Sway braces! That's the very term I could not retrieve from the memory banks. TYVM!

Ron;
Even I'm falling in love with the Warthog, and I'm not a jet guy in the least. This is a cool looking kit and you're doing a great job on it.

The main gear strut wires are apparently intended to penetrate the main wing spar - that might be problematic at this point. This early version of the kit does not have wheel wells like the 2006 version Gerardo is building.
Ron, I think you can cut-out the black parts, insert a piece of something to attach the landing gear wire, and close the thing again.
That "something" can be dough, a piece of cork, or carton.

Actually, the nose gear is OK - I managed to drill through the cockpit floor right through the skin on the "wheel well." I do intend to perform a little surgery on the main wheel wells like you suggest.

This thread (and me) are not dead - the main landing gear (less the incredibly fiddly doors) are mounted, as well as some of the electronic attachments. The Lavoisier build has been occupying most of my build time (and patience.) I hope to have this one wrapped up in the next week and will post final photos then.

Well, the two large main landing gear doors are on. Unfortunately I first had to correct an error I had mode in assembling the right main gear. I some how managed to reverse the fixture at the middle of the strut and still managed to get the gear mounted and glued (CA) in place without noticing it. I had to cut the supporting strut loose, peel/cut/shred the fixture from the main strut and then scratchbuild a new fixture. Needless to say, I will avoid photos from that side... I'd like to get this one wrapped up before I discover any more mistakes!

I must thank Gerardo for his excellent photos of the landing gear in his build of the 2006 edition - they are invaluable in locating the various doors.

I'm glad to see that the Lavoisier labor hasn't led to a Thunderbolt threnody and that the Warthog work is still trippingly on track.

It's great to have you and Gerardo both creating different versions of the A-10.
