I can't get this image out of my mind of Phil trying to drive a tank on the rims: sprocket wheel churning like crazy while tank and Phil sit immobile.

Alternatively, it could be a BT - the drive shafts whirring away and Phil sweating away trying to get the thing to turn. (No-one could drive a BT on wheels for more than about 50km without becoming totally exhausted from the effort of steering the thing).

Regards,

Charlie

Good point, Charlie. Christie and similar suspensions would accommodate Phil's California urge to drive on the rims, but I was thinking specifically of Douglas's 7TP.

Looking real good!

Not to stray too far away from Doug's great build but all this talk of riding around on the rims reminded me of something that I stumbled across a while ago...Some interesting illustrations by Stan Mott. I'm sorry I just could not resist. Here's the link to The the History of Tank Racing.

Kevin,

those drawings remind of this Hot Wheels car

It is called the Fast Fortress

My apologies to you, Douglas, for getting us off track. But you must admit that some very interesting and amusing material has made its way into your thread as a result.

Now, quick! Get to work on those treads so we can get back on track (until the next hijack).

Now, the gentlemen previous already described that this won't get far, and here is Kevin trying to move it...Didn't you learn anything from Dons mental image???

I bet Douglas thinks twice before leaving us hanging again...LOL
