#4 - TDAEABT 2 - Maly Modelarz 7TP 1/97

While I am deciding what to do with the ARADO 196, I figured I'd start this one. It is one long page of parts divided into four page areas. There are four pages of diagrams and text instructions. The parts are printed on a fairly heavy, smooth low quality bristol type paper.

Looks like a good project, Douglas. As I understand, this was the only tank that Poland used in any quantity during the German invasion.

It's a good-looking vehicle and I'l eager to see what you make of it.

Umm... the only conventional Polish built tank used during the German invasion - about 140 7TPs were built.
The 7TPs were quite effective against the panzers but their armour was too thin. The greatest number of armoured vehicles used by the Polish army were the TK/TKS tankettes - something like 550+ of these were built. The TKs were useless against the panzers. There were 50 Renault R-35s used as well in the southern part of Poland but they fared no better against the panzers as the French army ones did in 1940.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks for the additional info, Charlie.

Now that you mention it, I HAD read about the TK tankettes and the Renaults. What I guess I meant to say when I typed my hasty posting was, indeed, "conventional Polish-built."

I know very little about Polish AFVs, but this forum is a great place for me to learn.

Thanks for the info guys. I am building the single turret version, not the dual there was also the 7CP troop carrier based on the 7TP. Here are some inspirational photos.

Here are the interior formers. They are of a totally open 'T' type construction. I have added some heavy duty reinforcement but I do not like the open sides and top.

Well, the hull skins do not fit the frame or vice versa. There is a 2 - 3 mill gap all around. I decided to cut the hull skins up along the fold lines into individual plates. I then laminated them to 1mm stock. I added some bracing to add strength and prevent warping. Then I cut out a notch along the edges where the plates are glued together. I added some 3d relief to some of the plates. Then started gluing it all together.

Thanks Don

I cobbled the hull together using my dubious method and it is surprisingly strong. Starting to add the plates to the ventilation grills. Then on to the turret after supper. Hopefully the formers for that fit better.

BTW my edge coloring looks better in reality than it does in the photos. Really - - I assure you
