Ah, I remember that piece... I believe it's supposed to be some sort of transparent HUD, but I don't know if I read it or guessed it.

It's a slab of armoured glass with an embedded gunsight - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew....ht/flight1.htm (scroll down a bit for an image of the cockpit).

Charlie

Aha! Thanks for the link, Charlie! Should be enough info to rough something up from. Pity they didn't think to put a plan in the directions of this kit!

Try this one - http://ambiorix.spymac.com/Images/Me...rt2/index.html

The 3rd, 4th and 5th row of images have got pretty good shots of the armour glass mounting.

Regards,

Charlie

I can see where someone might be tempted to throw this kit in the can. It's definitely a frustrating kit. The graphics aren't anything special, the fit is klunky, and the whole feel of it is of something cumbersome. Plus odd bits, like uncolored sections;

I appreciate the info on the glass piece in the cockpit, guys. Unfortunately, I had already grown tired of this kit and decided to finish it off quickly. I just did a rudimentarly piece to represent it;

Astonishingly, the kit does assemble into something resembling a Me 163.

But it's not a particularly satisfying model. Rather unexciting and frustrating.

Still, it's one more MM kit I no longer have to build! After the Lysander, this one was a piece of cake...frustrating and awkward, but straightforward. There are a lot of pieces that probably fit better than I fit them, but even in the hands of a much better modeler I don't think the model would look all that much better. The kit is OK, but just OK.
Anyway, completing another model was a great excuse for an adult beverage;

The MM fever seems to be passing. My head is clearing. I think it may be time to find a kit that is well- designed, well printed, and less frustrating! Oh, wait! There's still time before the deadline for another MM kit!:D:D

Well, you certainly have my approval to do another entry. I think you should first get an OK from a mental health professional however...

Congratulations on being the only contestant with three completed entries! Your Lysander is currently your front runner with the Raiden and Komet following in that order.

Came out pretty good I think!
Seeing your build reminded me of one of main issues; my landing gear came out really wobbly and it couldn't stand properly.

It really looks good, Chris. For some reason, the model looks especially fine in the photo with the wine glass.

And the model looked even finer aftert the glass was empty, Don!:D

Yes, Kuba, the landing gear are weak. The design doesn't have enough structural support. I added extra glue in the skid to help!

Ron, I never planned for this one to count. I think you were right, I'm just using the contest to build some of the old stockpile!

But I should say that the Raiden has definitely been the best kit so far, with the exception of the paper quality!

Armor

That unknown part is thick, clear, bullet-proof glass.

One will have to create that themselves.
