I knew I should have cheated and pulled the Ki-61 kit out of my Maly stash to get started on. However, first I have to finish building the wall I intend putting the workbench against. No problem....just one electrical circuit to wire, and a few gazillion square feet of insulation batts to staple on. I'll have it done by the time the mailman brings the kits to me.....of course I will. Just like our fearless leader wouldn't wimp out and pick one of the new gemeration Maly kits to do. It is lookin good, though.

Hmph. Now I'm tempted to pull out a Maly kit too! Unfortunately I'm too focused on that other model right now.
Nice work there, Ron. You've really zoomed through a lot of this kit in a hurry. I always love any model with lozenge camo on it. Carl |

Some additional progress:
Tail struts added. There are no printed markings to indicate the fastening locations so I eyeballed it based on the 3-view. The wing is skinned. Thanks to warnings from others I was particularly attentive to the fitting process here. Turned out OK with exception of slight twist in one wingtip. Finally, the landing gear fairing - no problems there. I suppose I'll have to do the wheels sooner or later - the cores are just slipped onto the axle here. This is where is usually pull an OldTroll and get bored with the fiddly bits. But I must set an example for my MM compatriots. I shall press on!! |

Nice job so far Ron!
Have you decided whether to add the various control cables for all the flaps? Mine came out kind of funky, and was wondering how others would do them. I used to stop at that stage too.. but yes, you must press on! You're getting to the fun part of support struts!

My inclination at the moment is to forego the various cables. One reason is that I neglected to slot the rudder and elevators for the control horns before they were glued in place (sigh). I may change my mind once I'm closer to completion.

Huh? What? NO CABLES? What sort of example is that for the legions of OTMMers? Oh, cry for the lost cables of MM! Weep for those harmless details that can make observers ignore legions of even major fitting errors!
There, did I shame you into it? I'm just plain evil. It is a pretty thing, Ron. Does the engine turn? Carl |

Yes, if you build without cables then I might try and get away without putting those hideous 'yagi antenna' hanging off the bottom of the Beaufort, and that certainly wouldn't be sporting, now would it :D

Yeah, yeah, yeah - I get it. Do the cables! Sheesh! This is a tough audience.
