Merlin

I wonder which Merlin you are thinking about. The wizard or perhaps the engine that powered most of the aircraft of the second world war.

No - this is the feathered variety from Bird Mobile.

It's a nice kit but I wish the instructions were more precise !

I'm thinking of hanging it in the garden more often - to keep away the Pigeons !

Cheers
Mike

That's very impressive Mike.

1:1?

I have always wanted to do one of these - you have whetted my appetite! I just need to find a kit now!

Kevin,

Yes, all the Birdmobiles are 1:1.

I recently found a few on Ebay at reasonable prices.

Cheers

Yep, nice looking bird.

When I built one the head seemed a bit small and did not seem to fit the body. Tried reprinting the head pieces at a slightly larger scale but it looked weird. Found out that by rotating the head so the bird looked like it was looking out of one eye that the head fit on the body more precise. A close examination of the build still reveals some of the guidance arrows in some areas throughout the model. Luckily they could be mistaken as some feather detail.

The wing leading edge construction of the Birdmobile models looks like it could be adapted to some of the aircraft builds since that area seems to cause a bit of consternation.

The merlin makes a very impressive model. In the fall, I look forward to the evening merlin flights when the migrating birds dance over the dunes.
