My First Build Thread.
I found out about how detailed papermodeling can get about the same time I joined Papermodelers. I was hooked! But I didn't have enough confidence in myself to try doing a build thread, any way here it goes. The first model I did was Airdave's Scoobydoo van. Thanks Airdave. Showing it off made the sides colaspe inward. The General Lee was about the Fifth model I did. I don't know the designer, sorry. The 8th model was the Hannibal Twin 8 from the great race, sorry I don't know the designer or I would say so. By this time I thought I would try something harder. I love UHU02 designs. Proteus from Fantastic Voyage. Two weeks ago I made the flying car from Back to the Future. Now I am working on the Enterprise TOS bridge. I will post progress pics as I go. It is not as good as I would like, but I guess it's not too bad.

You are doing very well, I think. I've thought about doing Ed Bertshy's Hannibal Eight for a long time. That Proteus is beyond me. Might just be a mental block on my part.
Thanks for sharing

These all look good to me. I'm looking forward to some build threads to see your techniques.

Thanks for your kind words and support. They say a person is their own worst judge. Don I free hand cut and fold with my fingers, which is why I think my TOS bridge could be better.
Thanks again. |

My General Lee has all four tires that turns, but you can't see it in the pic. I made a whole in the center of each wheel well and rolled paper tight to make axles, which I then placed through the wheel wells. I cut them to fit with about 1/2 inch sticking out on both sides of the car, then I cut a whole in the back of the tires in the middle, and glued them on the axles, making sure they were centered. Simple but effective. I tried to upload a video of it, but I guess I can't from my computer.

Tuesday I decided to cut out the rest of the parts, and put them in a plastic bag til I could start building. Last nite I made all the crew chairs and place them where thay belong. The instructions show that the consoles should have come next, but I was afraid that my fingers were too big to place the chairs if I had did the consoles first. Well here are the pictures of the chairs in place. I will post pictures of the consoles and main viewer when I can get back to work on this project.

I know what you mean about big fingers. I suffer from that myself. My tweezer skills need to be worked on. Looking good thus far

Ok, I am back. I finally made time to get back on this. First I sorry I didn't think about showing how to build the view screen, but i will show it on the model, and the back if that helps. I score all fold lines to make it easier to fold.I did show how I did the consoles. here are the pictures.
