My 2017 Christmas model

Every year, I make a different Christmas model. The oldest ones were hand drawn and painted. More recently, a friend puts in CAD the parts that I define. You can see the original (pencil) idea for the model and the parts definition in the first picture. The second shows the printed model. It is not the definitive version, as the base proved too thin to cope with the lighting installation. Anyway, you can get a general idea.

The model may be described as a diamond in the middle of a flower. There are two kinds of petals and 6 of each kind.

The diamond is a tricky assembly of very few parts. It is tricky because it is fragile!

The characters have been the same for many years. In essence they are sets of triangular base pyramids. They sit in semitransparent paper in the middle of the diamond.

Well, moving on to the final assembly. I hope that the pictures are self-explanatory.

A beautiful Christmas model.

Thanks for showing us the development. The best part was your original draftsmanship of the model concept. Your drafting style reminds me very much of the drawings of William Wylam.
