Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, etc.

I have been remiss of my posting of projects for while, so now here is some catch-up.

As the title suggests I will begin with Planes. This is Thai Paperworks excellent little BF109 Trop, which is designed at 1/100. I upscaled it to 1/87 or HO scale. The kit was built with 65 lb card stock and all parts fit perfectly. I made joining strips, which were not included with the kit and painted the packs of the real itty bitty pieces with nail hardner before folding and gluing. The Hawker Hurricane is another of Nobi's 1/100 kits that I built a while back at 1/87 also, it is thrown in for a size comparison. Sorry the photography isn't better, but my phone must not have been in a good mood that day.

Now for trains....

This is an 1887 Porter Narrow Gauge Switch engine design by The Wood Engraver. The only real problem I had with this is there were only pictures of the finished build, and no instructions. I have no idea about what the scale is (though I think it is somewhere around 1/33). It is very well drafted with and has very good wood textures in the cab and in general was a fun little kit to build. There is no base with the kit.

For some reason the edge coloring didn't seem to work well around the cab (though it doesn't look bad in person) and I have fixed the delamination of the roof which I didn't see till I looked at the pictures.

Now on to Automobiles (or in this case an armored car).....

This is Alexander Bondar's 1920 Rolls Royce Armored Car which is available at Landships II. I resized this one also to 1/32 which made handling and cutting the smaller parts easier. This is also very well designed and a pretty much straight forward build, the onliest thing I couldn't figure out was the headlights, so I left them off. This looks like the speed racer of Armored Cars and is how you would think Rolls Royce would have designed one if you didn't know they had.

OK, now for etc.

I give you Canon's Dancing Santa. This is a pretty simple kit and it is pretty easy to build. I painted the backs of all the moving parts with nail hardner to strengthen them. All this guy does is wiggle his hips when you turn the bell. Every one that saw him had the same response.... a belly laugh.

Yes, SCE that guy just brings a lot of smile, I'm glad I built it for my wife.

Alas Fleetsailor I think I got that from a link that was on Papermau, unfortunately it isn't working anymore.

Thanks for the comments guys,
Beard

Love the switch engine. Reminds me of my Thomas the Tank Engine childhood.
