Christmas Tree from Canon Creative Park

Here is a Christmas tree from Canon Creative Park. It is called Christmas Tree Basic on the site. A4 or USLtr, 25 parts sheets, 5 instruction sheets. Height from bottom to top of star is around 21.5 inches/54.5 cm.

It did not register in my brain that it would be so big even though one piece of the lower tree section filled one page. Printing two sheets per page would make a nice sized Christmas tree.

Here is one of the lower tree pieces printed on USLtr size:

Six of those make up the lower tree section.

Here is the lower tree section:

That measuring tape has centimeters over inches. That's a big thing.

Here is one ring of decorations:

There are three rings like that to slip over the three tree sections as you work your way up. Two other rings of decoration are glued between tree sections.

Here is the internal support between the lower and middle tree sections:

The third and last tree section has a disk inside that sits on top of the middle tree section.

Here are the ornaments glued to the top of the lower tree section, and the middle tree section in place:

Here is the ornament ring on the middle tree section:

You can leave those ornament rings unglued so they can be rotated to a position that you like.

Here is the ring of ornaments glued to the top of the middle tree section, and the top tree section in place:

Fitting that disk inside the top tree section was a bit fiddly. You need to make sure it is even all around the perimeter of the tree section so the top tree section won't be tilted when placed on the middle tree section.

Here is the finished tree with ribbons and the star on top:

As mentioned before the height from bottom to top of star is around 21.5 inches/54.5 cm.

Construction time was probably around 3 hours. I worked on it on and off over a few days so that contruction time is a guesstimate. My biggest whine about the model are the highly visible fold lines. I tried to disguise them but it did not work in most of the areas.

One of my grand-nieces has already claimed the Christmas tree.

You did an excellent job of hiding the fold lines in the photos.

It looks very good, sir.

Only 3 hours?

Thanks, fellas.

Yep, only about 3 hours, kinda sorta. I try to remember to keep a log to see how long it does take in actual build time but always forget to do so. There were a lot of straight cuts and some easy curved cuts on the ornaments. A combination of hobby knife and scissors did the trick.

Those photos are not high res so the fold lines do not show. I knock down the resolution of the photos I post on forums.

I made one of these a few years ago. It is definitely big. And surprisingly easy.

That's quite a fancy tree!

I hope you don't mind me "jumping on to your thread"

I was asked to make some trees to hang on a full sized tree, they also wanted a musical theme.

I looked on You Tube and found a "how too" video clip that takes 10 minuted to run - that sounded about right for me!

I down loaded some sheet music (Mozart was the best looking!) and printed about 20 pages. The trees did take about 10 minutes each and I glued on a length of thread so they could hang on the tree. they are about 4 inches tall.

One benefit for me is that the place I work will keep the trees - although They don't take up much space.

Cheers
Mike
