This is the color of the paper I have chosen for the RAF matadors.
More pictures of the assembly coming soon.

Somewhere in the middle

So, now I know why the Airfix plastic kit didn't have the rear doors open on their refueling tanker.
Also this can be called a beta test build since the last one, the earlier posted Matador.

I've found some problems that need correction.
Somehow the cab in this rendition without the rear box section tends to lean back and causes problems.
I think it needs to be a separate "chassis" structure and then the cab over it.

I had trouble with the tank part. It originally didn't match/follow the size of the oval ends.
Had to redraw and add about 5cm (3/16") to it.

Also looks like from the rear, the door pattern needs to be wider so they don't angle out.

On the positive side, I now have the tread pattern sorted out so it matches the outer face of the tires.
I suppose it was always simple geometry calculations all along.

More stuff to add onto the model before the end.

Final parts

Glued on some of the final parts of the tanker.
I had problems with the Cannon Powershot 400 not formatting the flash card.
It finally did format and I quickly got some good shots for anyone interested.
Not too sure if I like the first shot without the flash, it is closer to the actual paper color.
But the background looks too brown, it's gray like the later ones.
Looks like the flash washed out my photoshop window color as in pic. 1
But with the flash on more of the line work can be seen.
If I had to do it again...I would replace the oval tube structures
with some balsa or basswood and sand it to an oval shape.
Then cover it with the blue paper.

Time to get back to "real" work and earn a living.
Until the next time, keep your knife blades sharp.

Jeff

Nice work, Jeff! Material for a good RAF diorama.

And I always like to see the age of cereal box models brought to life. In the late 1940s and early 1950s I loved to build the card models and collect the informative cards from cereal, except in my case it was Wheaties, Kix, and Shredded Wheat that I was eating while I read the back of the boxes and imagineered the models.
