Carousel

Here's another kit from the Kallboys.

It's one of their earlier kits and still very good.

I must be mad, but as with their other kits I printed two of their pages to one of mine, making the kit about 75% of the original. This translates into small! My version is "only" 4 inches tall. That's not too bad but there are 24 horses to be made. That means I had to cut out 48 horses and create a back and front and 24 small pedestals. I also had to make the poles that move the horses up and down on a real thing. I had just the thing for the poles in my spares box. If any of you are wine drinkers you may have come across a bottle that has a wire net woven round the neck. Some time ago I decided to unravel one and was surprised that the whole net is one piece of wire - I told you I must be mad.

One small problem is that the instructions are in German and because I only have the adobe reader I can't translate them. There are not that many pictures but they are just enough to make the kit.

as a final bit of silliness I attached the horses and other bits facing the opposite way to the instructions. This is because British "merry go rounds" turn the opposite way from continental versions. I'm told the reason for this is the fact that we drive on the left whereas Europeans drive on the right.

Cheers
Mike

Looks great! I've heard that the direction of the horses had something to do with "it being more proper for ladies to mount from the right side" or something like that.

Looks great, but what weight paper did you have to use?

That's quite an achievment, Mike. But I always knew you had it in you!

I just realized Disney's carousel in Mary Poppins is backwards

Thanks for all the compliments.

It made all the time spent worth it. Although it was an enjoyable build. The Kallboys deserve a pat on the back for producing such lovely kits!!

I used 120g although I did use heavier card for the base - I forgot to say that it does spin round...

Thanks
Mike
