Micromodels BEAM ENGINE

I'm trying to find a British made Micromodel called the Beam Engine. Keds Girl Lala posted her making of this model in April 2009. I want to make it for a friend's birthday. Can anyone help? Thanks- Wally

they appear regularly on eBay, but it is a sought after kit and usually goes for good money.

micromodels-usa will sell you a CD of reproduction kits.
I'm sure they must have the beam engine too.

there are others here who know more about them and I am sure you will get an answer.

Micromodels have been out of print since the 50's. Some original stocks are still for sale new, but this is not. When it comes up on eBay, watch as the last minute snipers pounce for $50 - $100. High quality duplicates can be bought from (but I don't know if they have the Beam Engine - just write to them to find out)

Marcle models: Untitled Document

Zeist Bouwplaten: - Zeist Bouwplaten - Import, verkoop, ontwerp en productie van papieren schaalmodellen, maquettes en bouwplaten (cardmodels), Modelbouw, Rietveld cutoutmodels (click on Miscellaneous, then Micromodels)

Micromodelle - Heidelberg: Micromodelle Heidelberg

Micromodels USA has plans to issue them, but has not started: NewsStand

The original printing plates still exist, and the owner has started reprinting a New Series of the originals, using the original plates. He is doing some of the really rare ones now, but not the Beam Engine, yet. That would be Autocraft models, sometimes sold through eBay.

You can get it on CD HERE, but not all by itself...it's on the miscellaneous CD.
HERE is the main page.

Wally;
There is an outfit in the UK who sells CDs of scans of mint condition original MicroModels at 300 dpi they print out fine if you just want to build them.

However, I won't post the URL here, because I am uncertain about copyright issues, especially since the owner of the original plates plans to reissue the models. Neither do I want to give out the url via private message for the same reason.

If he wanted to though, a guy could find the site pretty easily with the aid of a search engine.

Wow! That is absolutely electrifying news! How can I learn more about the project?

You're welcome! I believe John is still there. He is a very nice fellow and he even offered to burn a custom CD for me with whatever I wanted on it.
Best of luck!

There is a bigger model of a beam engine - a giant water works pumping station actually, that shares a lot with the MM Beam Engine. This is by Roger Pattenden of Heritage models, to be seen at

Cornish Beam Engine

Not the tiny jewel that the beam engine is, but a very nice model.
