Art, books, plastic

I do a lot of plastic models, or should I say I have a lot of plastic models. Try to keep my hand in doing artwork (spend 20 years in graphics and prepress before winding up driving a city bus), primarily in Prismacolor and some watercolors and acrylics. Have way too many books and magazines with intentions of reading all of them. Go to the races some, NASCAR, drags, some open wheel and sprints, really wish they'd bring the Grand-Am series back to Phoenix. And to cover all of them, I do photography. Try to get artsy with some of it, but mainly for documentation purposes for either model building or painting.

Yes, I still have lots of plastic in the closet too. I still like to build it though. I try to mix up the model building between wood, paper and plastic on a regular basis.

Cool stuff Whulsey, I'm sure your artistic talents work well with modeling. I'm too hooked on card now to do plastic anymore, but plastic served well for years. It looks like you have alot of artistic skills.

Thanks Birder. That's why I disappear from the modeling world occasionally when a painting is just demanding to be done. I think my philosophy towards modeling is I considered myself primarily an automotive modeler so go with whatever is available or will work best with what I'm trying to accomplish in the finished project. Tend to be a purist only when doing a traditional transparent watercolor, otherwise anything goes if it works.
