desklamp: combining paper modeling and furniture.
My desk lamp broke. Went to buy a new one. Target wanted $30 for a POS plastic thing. I saw a nice wooden one online for $134. Decided to copy it in my woodshop. Cost: $6.
http://jleslie48.com/jl/120728_lamp/acs.html $2 for the cigar box, $2 for the special bulb, $1 for the night light, $1 for the extension cord that was cut up. The wood was "donated" by home depot: its their free paint sticks. Had to 3d design a lampshade. The special bulb is a night light threaded florescent bulb: in other words, the equivalent of a 40w bulb, using only 7w, and generating very little heat: don't want to burn up the paper lampshade. |

this is what they wanted $134 for:
plus I have a pencil case in my base. I'm thinking of making one out of a big cigar box to use as a traveling combination paper modeling supply box and lamp. |

Beautiful lamp Jon! At the risk of asking a really silly question, where do you get your cigar boxes for $2.00?

Beautiful lamp! Puts the $134 one to shame. You even incorporated paper modeling! Nicely done.
