actually the original idea is to figure out a mount the lamp onto a cigar box for that exact reason. I actually have started that work. I have 2 cigar boxes that are actually 12" wide, they are not very tall so I'm stacking them and gluing them as we speak to use as a base.

Hi Jon,
great looking idea!

Been planning on doing a thread about my newest lamp. Bought a cheap ($22) LED lamp from wally world. Big difference in the light compared to flourescent daylight I used to use. Doesn't get hot, and the lighting is much better for model building.

Like you project, might try something simular with the magnifying lens light I have!
Gooseneck keeps falling over, yours looks to be a good answer on how to modify.

yeah, the led bulbs were $15 each at home depot (vs $2.50 for the florescent) the light socket is a night light from the $1 store, so the whole lamp cost me $4.50 so far.



Check out the other lamp I documented made out of the free paint sticks from home depot to really make a homemade gooseneck lamp.
