Yes, I second Doug - an Oriole it must be based on the markings...

Thanks Wayne, Kevin, and Glen! I have now noted them as Baltimore Orioles. They sure were pretty. There were four or five of them fluttering in the silverbell tree. I'm glad I got the one shot. Wish I could have got more. I must (1) wash those sunroom windows, (2) set up the camera on a tripod, and perhaps (3) replace my Canon Powershot SX500IS with a camera with a faster cycle time.

I am in the middle of teaching my Pacific War Strategy 1941-1945 on-line elective for the last time. It ends 1 June and, after I do the evaluations and empty out my USAWC office, I will be truly retired. Aside from more nature walking, doing stuff with Lil, paper modeling, and reading, I plan to get little more serious out birding and nature photography. Stay tuned.

Wish Lauren (Ash Runner) was still here.

Don

Glen, saw one of the 'black' birds flying yesterday and saw the white patches on the wings which seems to confirm your id. Still need to get better photo.

Don, good looking bird and garden. When I was out watching the birds up the hill a couple of days ago though about Ash Runner also.

Wayne and Don - remember not to "retire". Important to keep the brain active in terms of problem-solving thought processes etc...

Kevin, still so busy I'm 6 months behind on magazines and general reading. And just finishing the started models from the staging area is another couple of years. That's not even thinking about what I still want to do to the house and property. Just thinking about it all I want to take a nap, but don't have time.

Spring is bringing lots of migrants, and we have had a pair of Brown Creepers nesting somewhere near so seeing them regularly lately. They are cute little things, chickadee size and I assume it's the male regularly feeding the female, hadn't seen that before. Nashville Warbler, Rufous Hummingbird, Osprey back, too.

I might have less squirrels and mice in the neighborhood. The owls have a nest in the maple across the street. You might be able to see the owl in front of the hole.

That is neat. I can see the owl head looking out of the tree hollow.
