Here is a Northern cardinal hunkering down on a branch in the early morning.

Missouri birds

It is really cold here in Missouri with temps dropping below zero at night. Due to the extreme cold my wife's bird feeder has become very popular so I decided to take a few pictures today. I have really enjoyed the photos posted on this thread!

Nice cardinals and bluebird.

I'm looking at six bluebirds at the platform feeder, along with a cardinal and goldfinches.

At the other feeder: Carolina wren, nuthatch, and downy woodpecker. White-throated sparrows and northern juncos on the ground.

Don

Red-shouldered Hawk

I was outside filling some birdfeeders and this guy showed up. It hung around watching the entire time then flew off. I think it is a Red-shouldered Hawk.
Perhaps it was anticipating supper.

This week I purchased a new lens for my camera. As I cannot build for a while,
I took it out for a test at a local lake. I managed to catch this one. Distance, according to
google earth, about 700 yards (640 meters). Considering it was a moving target, it
turned out identifiable.

Nice shot. I've been trying to get shots with my iphone but not much success. I really need to get a dedicated camera.
