Kevin -- wow, I am impressed with your success nursing bats. I have read that they are very difficult to keep alive in captivity, to the point that there are only a few species that can be kept in zoos. Though fruit bats are less challenging than other species.

Well we don't do anything special.
Not bat experts at all! Just a love of wildlife and a desire to try and help. As we only ever have the bats short term (they fix quickly) I guess it is easoer then it sounds. Thinking of what you said I suspect we probably would have serious problems long term.

Here is an African Rock Python for you.
My wife saw this when she was crossing a bridge in the bush (just a one car effort) at the crack of dawn. As she reached the other side she saw the python gliding over a rock at the edge of the river, and took this shot. Lucky her - I have never seen one in the wild! I was fast asleep in bed at the time!

Crossing one of the rivers on a low-level bridge I found a crocodile fast asleep right by the road!
At the time it was fairly cold and on this day we had a hot spell - so he was obviously enjoying the change!

Saw a rather large and fat lizard the other day gobbling insects in a tree. Obviously has a good life!

Good camoflauge on that lizard. Nice picture, too.

The camo in real life is far better - stands out more in the photo.
I was sitting four feet away and did'nt see it - someone else saw the movement and pointed it out!

A couple of shots from Islay Creek in Montana de Oro State Park, CA. A lady bug and a bee sharing a flower and a baby steelhead.

To move over the hill to Morro Bay and what has to be my favorite shot so far of a California Ground Squirrel.

Whulsey - two great photos there.
The insects in the flower is really a splendid shot - nice composition as well. Came out well. And the squirrel is one of my favourite shots as well - I did not realise how great that shot was until I bumped it up to full size. Its really nice - a picture to ponder over! Thank you!
