Here's a couple of miniature dino shots. One taking a stroll on the trail to Harmony Headlands and the ocean and the other his city cousin doing a few pushups in the Botanical Gardens in San Luis Obispo.

Great shots!

Like the second lizard and egg laying ones.

Real classic type of lizards - the more common one here are generally the smooth skink type of lizards.

A buffalo Visit

The other day four buffalos came a-visiting, and then departed after a good look. They were definitely curious!

These were all males, known as "dagga boys". The males tend to hang around together.

The "dagga boys" (so-called because they roll in dagga (mud/dust) are extremely dangerous. Buffalos are dangerous anyway - they kill more people overall in Africa than any other animal. Because of their aggressiveness, they are also valued by hunters and are part of the "big five".

African buffalo are not related to other buffalo - the other interesting thing is that their horns are solid from tip to tip - the boss across the head is solid bone.

Nice pics of the buffalo. Looks like a couple of oxpeckers hitching a ride in that last picture.

Nice looking king snake. That should keep the rats and copperheads in check.
