Great Cheetah photo! I have to go to a zoo to see critters like that and there aren't any nearby!

But I do have critters in and around where I live...and some of them can be rather comical. Take this Soldier Beetle, for instance. I noticed him 'clowning' around at the end of a branch of a sage bush and began shooting some photos. When I looked at what I shot on the computer, this image had my coffee coming through my nose! 8v)

Thanks Whulsley.

Doug - no. You have to work hard to find the animals - i have not often seen cheetah, and sightings are getting rarer and rarer as the numbers dwindle.

This cheetah is a youngster - and he is in aggressive mode - if you look carefully you will see he has his ruff erected - along his back from his head.

This was a sad event as there were a couple of cheetahs parked. A jackal with cubs came past and went to waterhole, when all of a sudden the cheetah took off and went after the cubs. One dead and one other at least injured. The one cub fled and never returned. It would have died.

This photo was the aftermath, when the cheetah were looking for more cubs.

The jackal then found the dead cub and sat and wailed - and out of the bush other jackal appeared and came to console her. Quite amazing.

And totally unnecessary as the cheetah were just "practicing". Unusual as jackal and cheetah are not competitors and normally coexist happily. Which is why they caught out the jackal and her cubs.

I can find some more pics of the event if you are interested.

About 1.5 centimeters...not a big bug at all.

OK. I'll put this one up since I'm fighting a cold or allergies or something right now and feeling pretty crabby.

Add another one that I keep forgetting. Not a great shot of the pronghorn, but do like the overall scene.

Is that the large array in the background?

Every time I have seen Pronghorn, they looked just like that. Tiny critters in the distant. 8v)

That's it is, Ash. They have a whole herd that roams around there. I guess the one I shot is the alpha buck. Pretty cool place there. It must be an old lake bed. Flat and level in all directions for 20-30 miles with the Array stuck in the middle.
