Origami Cranes

Howdy y'all.

I decided that I wanted to make my long distance girlfriend something and considering I am good with paper I chose that as a base plan. I then got an idea to make origami roses, one for every day I have known her but they were really hard to make so I chose to make origami cranes. I've known her since February 22nd, 2014 so that makes it 68 days. I started making these yesterday morning and I can finish a crane in five minutes. I plan on making these tonight to try and catch up to 68 then once I am done with those I am going to make one for her everyday for the rest of our lives.

Also, because of the distance (I live in Washington, she lives in New Hampshire, 3,000+ miles) I plan on meeting her in two years when we're both graduated from high school. If I do the math right I should have built by then 750+, maybe more.

Great Idea! It is said that anyone who folds 1000 cranes will be granted a wish. At the very least you will be granted 83 hours of peaceful meditation.

I've been thinking about making the white ones for her and then 1,000 colored cranes for myself.

Am I insane yet? Nah....

Great idea. Before paper modeling, I did a lot of origami. I still remember some of it actually.

According to Japanese tradition, white paper and anything that is folded in white paper is usually associated with the bereavement of a loved one.

So, if you are wishing ill on your girl friend, you might want to start back up with colored paper

Folding paper cranes is always a good idea. It is a long tradition in our family.

I have a mobile that I made for my grandmother's 101st birthday 10 years ago with one big crane on top and four strings of 25 cranes hanging below.
