Nope. Not too old!

The models look great - I like the not painting bit!

They remind me very much of the display models that I used to see at GEC Avionics, now BAE or at least what's left of it, very effective and the range keeps increasing.

Hell no, Garland! Sounds like the ideal age to be one!

Had a look at the Airfix site.

Nice range of around half a dozen models.

My buddy Gixergs presented me with another couple of Airfix Quick-Build kits for Christmas this year (he got a Monogram 1/49th scale P-61 from me, in case you're wondering). An early-war Spitfire (looks like it was designed to replicate a Mk.I or Mk.II) and an Me-109e-ish, done with the famous yellow nose of Battle of Britain fame! Here they are under the tree:

Now let's build a Spitfire! the following sequence shows what you get in the box, the major sub-assemblies, and the completed model on its stand- both naked and after the peel-and-stick decals are applied. The decals have very light "tack"; I think, though the instructions don't mention this, to make them easy to re-position or even remove if you wish to dis-assemble the model. Also, note that each color of the "paint scheme" is a separate piece, so assembling the plane is as much like putting together a 3D puzzle as it is like assembling a snap-together model. And for action-feature fans, the prop DOES rotate.

Very nice.

If I see one I'm definitely going to pick it up!

That's built up really nice once you've done the Messertootle you'll be able to have your very own Battle of Britain.

Looks more like Lego than airfix.

Still I would probably purchase a couple if I ever see them in this part of the world.
