my racing cockpit

I have been working on this side project for a couple months now.... We had several tornado warnings lately that made us stay in the basement so I got lots of work done on my happy happy funtime project!

The cockpit is made out of wood and built by a professional carpenter. I was going to build one but the guy he made it for ended up not using it. I got it for cost of materials and it was close enough to go pick up! The wheel/pedals is a Thrustmaster TX. The seat is from a dodge charger daytona and is powered and heated fully wired up and operational. That was the biggest challenge to do safely. I used an xbox360 power supply to fill the 12v need. its all hooked up to my xbox one in the basement.

It still needs to be decorated but its fully functional. Its a blast to play with. Even my wife wants to use it....

Sweet! That looks like a great set up. I'm guessing you play Forza? I want something similar for playing various flight sim programs. Unfortunately, I can guarantee that my wife would NOT want to use it.

Looks great! I could see me in one of those. I got one little question.... Do the pedals, wheel and seat vibrate according to terrain and car movement? I know, I know, its a stretch, but just had to ask....

Forza is great and the Need for Speed series are good too.

If anyone plays forza or even just has an xbox add me - cgutzmer on there if you hadnt guessed.

Willygoat - yes Forza 5 probably horizon 2 when it comes out. If I get a flight simulator I plan on putting in a removable flight stick. Not sure if one is available for xbox though so might have to go PC.... but I always sucked at them....

greg - yes it vibrates when I am on rough terrain or rub other cars etc. It also has force feedback in the wheel so that I actually need to wrestle it if I hit a corner too hot or someone bumps me around. I actually had to turn that down a bit because my sissy nerd arms couldnt work that hard....

FRD - it has a receiver for the seatbelt but the belt itself did not come with it because it attaches to the car frame.... my wife keeps telling me to put one in.... and make a fasten seatbelt sign on the dash

Sidenote... my father in law used to be an aerospace engineer. He said he was gonna see if any of his old buddies have a airplane cockpit bubble in storage somewhere - now wouldnt that be fun for flight sim..... my son also asked if we could get a shell from a mini or smart car to put over the cockpit HAHAHAHAHA

I will share more pics when I have it decorated up appropriately.
