"Yorktown" flintlock pistol 1/1

I'm on a roll with these old pistol kits from the 60's.. Here's another from the Life-Like/Pyro series. It actually has a small card part..

The wooden parts of the body were painted with red-brown enamel. Was let to sit about a week, and then painted over with burnt umber oils... wiped down with a soft cloth till I had a look I was happy with. All metal parts were painted with flat black enamel, and when dry buffed out with graphite powder till I had a somewhat gunmetal finished. All detail work done in gold enamel..

Manage to squeeze in just a little card work in on this. Once completed, a light coat of Future was applied to seal all the shading & other touch-ups that I did. I noticed when putting the parts together, that I was missing the piece of "flint" that goes into the hammer. So I ended up by getting a piece from another kit to use as a template.. Glued up some cardstock to the right thickness.. coated with CA.. them sanded to shape. Goggled up some images on what a piece of flint would look like, and then painted and shaded it.. For a old kit from the 60's, I think it turned out okay..

Hi Peter,

Another nice job on one of those oldie but goodies. I especially like the angle of working some paper in that one.

Have you considered going to a kit that produces something that actually goes "Bang"? Give Dixie Gunworks site a look see, they have stuff in kit form that is pretty interesting.

Dixie Gun Works muzzleloading, blackpowder and rare antique gun supplies.

I wish we had one of these in paper...though I guess it wouldn't go BANG!

There are some paper models of 1 to 1 scale guns available at ecardmodels.com, but no flinters...yet. I would think these would be great wall hangers.

Thanks all for the comments...
Jay... cool site, but the last thing I need is another area of interest.. And those would be very easy for me to get hung up on.

Cheers..
