Hi Cory,
That sure is Wonderful work you are doing.
The details are spot on.
My wife is in the garment industry so I can tell
what you are doing takes lots of talent.
All the best wishes for your business.
Just a thought for you.
Would you consider designing a few PAPER items
that folks could build and enjoy.
Start maybe with a couple hats, ETC.
Might be fun for folks to build and wear
for special events and holidays.
Best Regards,
Gary

Thanks guys. As for paper items, I have actually been working on a Civil War Lady in a ball gown in about 1/6 scale nor forever but can't get it right! But I am still trying.

I hadn't give any thought to hats, ect. But I might.

Thanks guys for all of your comments! I should have more models and clothing pics up soon!

This is a rather plain ACW period dress, in a nice cotton/silk brocade. The underlying store bought hoop skirt is a bit off for this pattern and the skirt is a bit long for my wife, but you get the drift. A dress like this is a basic dress, and can be decorated by the end user in any way she see's fit. Tatted lace collars, lace or braids trims or ribbons and bows could all be added to spice it up, and back in "them days" trim and decorations sometimes migrated from one dress to the next. This is the first dress that I have made in many years, but an easy pattern. I got a bit lazy and machine sewn all of it, even buttonholes, but my Singer buttonholer makes great buttonholes so I do not feel too bad. I plan on making a number of dresses due to the fact that I have a number of bolts of fabrics on hand that fit the bill.

Straight out of a history book! Wouldn't have been at all uncommon on the western frontier, either.

I would love a copy of this jacket:

Royal Navy Uniforms: Lt. William Hicks | The Dear Surprise

I made arrangements with a seamstress to have it made, but she keeps pushing off the delivery. If it falls through can you make this one?

Yes, I believe I can.
Here are some of my more recent builds. The white and red is a French 1808 coat in wool with raw edge construction and linen lining. The gray coat is a pre-Civil War Militia Officers Jacket based on the 1833 US jacket used during the Mexican American War. It is a wool flannel with linen lining and hand worked buttonholes. Enjoy!

Have you ever made a capote- a caped jacket made from a trade blanket?
