Translation Help
Dear List folks:
As international as we seem to be I want a T shirt that says Irish By marriage on it before I got married I would see some of these at festivals Now after I did get married I can't find any, Married South Buffalo First Ward Irish. I got a pack of Ink Jet T-Shirt Transfers and am going to make my own. My Question is: See the picture is the Irish translation OK, I don't want to do a JFK and say that I am a jelly filled donut or some such. On the finial one I will have in small print the English translation Thanks, Miles |

That's what my computer translator says. Irish by marriage.
Go for it Miles! If it actually means something else it certainly might be conversation starter. Paul

I think that "Irish" is not a word in the Irish language. You might try translating "Irish man," "Irish woman" or "Irish person."
Best would be to find someone who actually speaks Irish. |

I believe Thomas is correct.
Running the word "Irish" through the translator, translating English to Irish produces, "Gaeilge". There is also that thing about putting nouns ahead of verbs in many languages. You need get to someone who is fluent in Irish or get in touch with the Irish embassy. They're probably on-line somewhere. Good Luck.
