Istanbul Express

Here's the Istanbul Express! A cunning representation of what looks like a Sante Fe F7....

A rather neat and well-executed version of the traditional Jersey dinner in an old trolley car. The combination of kebabs, war bonnet Santa Fe color scheme, and presumably South African location makes for a real cross-cultural event.

Where was the picture taken, Kevin?

If you took it yourself, how were the kebabs?

Don

It was taken in Fordsburg, Johannesburg.

It used to be just an old railway coach, which they have turned into an "engine". Actually a great job as I suspect someone made it from just a photo.

Taken as we drove past on Saturday. Didn't stop for food!

Amazing! Sometimes old airplanes are also converted to a restaurant. I remember a Concorde in the German open air museum at Hermeskeil, which was turned into place for a snack and drinks. At least that was back in 2006 and I guess it should still be there.

This is great! I am interested in modeling the train depots/stations of the L&N Railroad across the Panhandle of Florida. These are some of the stations I am interested in.
I grew up in Marianna, FL and have worked across the Panhandle for many years of my work life. Now that I am retired, I can work on building some of these models. I wish I could create paper versions to build as card stock models but I am not sure of how to get the designs created. Not quite sure how to upload photos.

Do you include or, indeed object to, paintings of trains and locomotives? If so, here's one I did earlier, and hope you like it.

Nice painting

Don't think I've posted this. A White rail car somewere in Oregon between Portland and Tillamook...and speaking of Tillamook a shot of the floor of the Tillamook cheese plant. Free samples there, I almost hurt myself with them.

No one seems to have posted anything here for a while....

Here's a Class 24 loco taken the other weekend - at a stop for water - and yes there's water in those tanks believe it or not!!!! You just have to yank the right wire and hope!
