Two locos under steam before a mornings shunting. Taken about 15 years ago. The operations have ceased now.

And a shot of two electric loco's hauling a long freight train.
Locally developed, these locos are very gutsy indeed for electrics. I assume that these are Class 6E's but I am uncertain a bit as well. The numbering reflects a Class 7E but the loco does not look like a 7E at all. The nose looks like a 6E, but the louvres and vents on the side are new to me in terms of their arrangements and don't look like the normal 6E. If anyone can confirm either way I would appreciate it...

And last for today - a fireless steam locomotive!

See some fireless steam with cylinders under cab some with cylinders in conventional location at front; I wonder what makes the difference.

Belated thanks for these excellent images, Kevin.
The image of the electric locomotive - whatever it is - would make a good jigsaw puzzle. Don |

southwestforests - still waiting in info (if any) on the cylinder story.
In the meantime, here is a shot from last weekend. Drove past these and as I generally have a camera, stopped and took the shot. The light was dreadful and I had to shoot into the sun, but these locos are rare and this is my first pic of a couple Class 36 locos - designed and made in South Africa by the GE Group in the mid-1970s. Only 124 made. Disliked by crews for their large windows, which makes them very hot and also a tempting target for lineside rock throwers - hence the grills.

Like the look of those. But can understand about the large windows with driving buses in Arizona in the summer. Also about rock throwers, lost several windows over the years.
