Transit perils!

Wayne - these locos normally run in pairs - operating direction is always cab forward as visibility is poor the other way.

Great image, Kevin!

I like the looks of these Class 36s.

Of course, you know by now my immediate thoughts when I see attractive images of railway locomotives!

The Old and the New!

On a baking hot day, a brand new Class 39 sits alongside a Class 35 dating from the '70s.

The Class 39's are quite interesting - they are rebuilds of older locomotives originally made in the early 1970s.

This particular one is a rebuilt of Class 34 loco- the forerunner of the Class 35 in the same picture!

Nice-looking locomotives? Potential jigsaw puzzle?

Here is a pic of a double-headed train (a 19D loco, followed by a 15F), as it leaves Cullinan Village, the engines leaning into the curve as they work up steam on the grade out.

Cullinan exists really only because of the diamond mine there, where some of the worlds largest diamonds have been found - including the Cullinan Diamond.

The combination of steam locomotives and purple blossoms is unbeatable.
