Some evocative images, Wayne! Especially the rusty little Heisler and its orange GE 44-ton companion.

Nothing to do with trains, but I figured Kevin would be monitoring this thread.
Lil and I just returned from the annual "Know Your World" exhibition by the International Fellows of the U.S. Army War College: lieutenant colonel/wing commander/commander to brigadier/air commodore/commodore rank officers from 88 countries. The huge Carlisle Expo Center building was filled with lines of tables covered with food, drink, and cultural items from all the countries. Of course, I spent time with the Korean, Japanese, and Taiwan IFs, as well as with the Officer from Nepal and his wife (their son is my classmate in my Japanese class at Dickinson College) and visited all the other tables. Relevant to you, Kevin, I drank Rusker beer with the Kenyans, Nederburg wine with the South Africans, and coffee with the Tanzanians. I ate spicy goat stew on injera bread with the Ethiopians and various delicious combinations of meat and vegetables and assorted drinks with the IFs from other African countries as well as the from the other countries. Here is a video about the event made in 2017 to give you an idea about what it looks like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lkK69rGeuE There was one train element: while we were at the exhibition, the evening Norfolk Southern freight rolled through Carlisle. That's really an interesting video Don, a perfect example of, "cultural exchange"...

"Tusker" beer, of course, not "Rusker."
And yes, like this Forum, great cultural exchange. Don |

Don - thank you very much for that - very interesting.
tusker was the home brew and here Nederberg is actually my wine of choice. I love their Rose. Not an expensive wine brand but very acceptable quality. And coffee from Kenya or Tanzania is some of the worlds best. And your Ethiopian meal was also one of my favourites. I am really glad you got to share some of the tastes I have experienced - and a whole lot as well! And the event is a great idea!

Got an 8lb, 3.6kg, 600+ page, railroad book in the mail
Got an 8lb, 3.6kg, 600+ page, railroad book in the mail Found one on Amazon for about $32 including shipping, for sale by Friends of the San Francisco Library. That sure beats list price when you are trying to finance life on Social Security Disability which is $11 a month below the HHS poverty level for a single person household.
Been wanting a copy for a couple decades - waiting 20 years got a substantially reduced price! But now my health is an even bigger mess than it was that 20 years ago and I can't build as much as I used to. Oh well, I finally have the book to enjoy. And later today am taking it along to enjoy while a friend with MS is at physical therapy - I'm doing the driving. Will bet a good chunk of that 8 pound weight comes from the clay coated paper, it is nice and smooth and shiny, they didn't cut corners on paper quality.
