An American Loco in Africa?

Here a is a permission shot I managed - usually they are just not interested in photographers, but without permission you cannot get close to the locos anyways.....

On a steel mill.

This is a 25 tonner? Can anyone ID it - I suspect it is an American loco!

Above I meant Telman, not Trojan (predictive text rears its head!).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have spent the afternoon looking at pictures of 45 ton GE locos. The pic above almost fits - the cab obviously is a recent rebuild, but the rest seems similar.

Can anyone confirm this is a definite 45 ton GE? Its on 3 ft 6 in gauge, so it would have regauged.

This loco is still working - and if it is a 45 ton GE it would be 60-70 years old!

Great Western 150th Anniverary Special

Here are a few PIX I took in Plymouth, UK in April 1985. There were many excursions that year to celebrate the 150th anniverary of the Great Western Railway. The pictures bring back great memories of life in Plymouth!

Telman - thank you. Now I am both convinced and happy! I se the builders date is 1973 - not as ancient as I thought!

I did look at this site but for some reason did not scroll all the way down.

Anyway if I go into the area again I will try and take some more pictures.......

RAF - nice shouts of the steam - typical UK lineside!
