I see all kinds of cool rail stuff on my current job, but they have a strict "No electronics of any kind" policy.

Look around the junk shops for an old box camera or a Kodak Brownie Aaron.
Come to think of it, practically any old 'FILM' camera is unlikely to have any electronic components.

Of course, finding some film or someone to develop it could be a problem.

Or you could try going covert like me with a camera built into a pair of sunglasses. They take excellent video recordings, and the still shots are just as good as the average phone camera.

Johnny,

Since I just retired a few months ago from were Aaron works (Valley Metro transit bus driver), they don't want anything that distracts you from the driving. Since for most people anymore that means some type of cell phone or mobile device they just say 'no electronics'. This particular company is really uptight about it since it was one of their employees that was operating the rail in Los Angeles that had the major accident a few years ago while he was texting.

I've thought about getting a GoPro and wearing it like a necklace around my neck, but I dunno how much battery life or memory they have.

Honest, they work a treat. There's a few variations around, but if you order direct from China (Where else?) they are available with interchangeable different lenses. Including clear, but I don't think anyone's brought out vision corrective lenses yet.

Here are a few shots of the recently restored UP DD40X at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis. Just got back from a visit there a few weeks ago. My three little boys had a blast! If anyone is seriously thinking about making a model of this one I did a complete walk around, well the best I could while chasing two preschoolers around in the process.

I was about to ask if they come in prescription sunglass lenses.

There ya go ... a cheap and cheerful pair of Buddy Holly specs that any self respecting optician could put some prescription lenses into for ya.

Can you believe the price, and post free at that. I'd expect the postage to be more than they want for the camera/glasses.

Add some clip ons if ya want shades, but make sure the clip don't cover the camera pin hole.

Interesting. I suppose one can try asking for permission too - sometime works!
