Railway Pics - Locos, Rolling Stock, Buildings, Etc!

It suddenly occurred to me that although there is a strong interest in railway models, there is no one place really where people can post railway related pictures. Some really good photos are "buried" in odd threads in the Forum!

So, I decided to start this thread for everyone's railway pics - whether they be locomotives, stations, signals, rolling stock or anything else railway related!

Lets have all those photos now to serve as modelling inspiration (for maybe new models), as well as just provide us with something of interest to admire, puzzle over or discuss!

Earlier I bumped up a thread on a Locomotive Day in Slovakia, posted by "fixative", as I really felt this deserved a wider viewership.

It has a really wonderful selection of amazing pictures of an amazing selection of locomotives.

If you haven't seen this thread go have a look now.......

Locomotive parade 2016

And with the link here hopefully it will not get "lost"!

Excellent idea Kevin. After your comments in the 'Cats' thread I sort of thought the same thing. Since I live barely a half mile from the BNSF line from Phoenix that goes connects with the UP line here with BNSF main line in northern AZ. Big modal yard right south of me also. Plus my dad retired as Senior Welder in charge of maintenance of way on the Santa Fe between Purcell, OK and Gainesville, TX.

Here's a few shots from the locomotive repair facility in Newton, KS from a couple of years ago.

Whulsey, thank you! You sort of read my mind, because the "Cats" thread did trigger this thought actually!

And thank you also for these classic shots of BNSF - even some of the old "Warbonnet" and classic early Sante Fe colour schemes too! One day I may (may) get to the States! I can dream I suppose.

Here are a couple of shots of the local locos (Class 43's) - taken while in a bird watching trip. I take a break from birds by sitting in the bush by the railway line........

The railway lines here are all narrow gauge, so the locos are a lot a smaller then yours!

Here's a few more to tease the taste buds. From Barstow, CA a

few years ago. This was at the rail museum. Was late, museum was closed and I was heading back to AZ so wanted to make the river by dark. That's my Ford Focus sitting by the hi-railer.

I don't own the picture, so I won't post it here. However, I will post the link to the photo I found:

The existing railroads have been painting some of the locos in vintage schemes to keep the copyrights alive. Makes it cool for photography.

Steam Locomotives

I shot these in New Mexico and Oklahoma. I have a lot of train pictures from this trip and if you have never hung out over the rail as far as you possibly can and tried to take pictures of the train while it is moving it is quite an experience....lol

Found a few more from when UP had 844 in town for the 100th Anniversary of Arizona. Don't mind the fat guy blocking the views.
