I elected to use the included clear canopy section.I taped it off to ensure an accurate cut. This may complicate assembly as I do not want the clear section to fog up when I join the fuselage halves.i will Future and mask off the windows prior to installation.

It is good to see a vac-form being made. I made a few back in the eighties. Some came out alright and others were, in my opinion, unbuildable. I bought my first one after seeing some beautiful built up ones in magazines. I spent a lot of money on a 1/72 Nimrod. When I opened the box I found only the barest of parts to make it. I managed to get it together but it was rough. I didn't know about sanding down the parts at the time. My dad felt sorry for me and took me to the model shop to buy something else.
When I was successful, the satisfaction was immense. It was a lot of fun making a good one. But the bad ones just made me angry that someone could release such junk for what was a lot of money to me.
I still have a few I bought back in the nineties by a company called Wings 72. They look nice, should I ever get around to making them.

Robert

Yeah they are not for the newbie or casual builder. This one seems to be going smoothly thus far.

Good seeing somebody actually get a vac-form together. Had a couple, one for a plane which fortunately an injected kit was issued before I got the nerve to try it. The other was for a late model dirt race car that I did get together. But the bodies on the real ones weren't much more then some hand formed sheet metal with a few fiberglass parts so had a lot of leeway.

Good luck on the beastie, always like those.

Wow! I remember these well. I started several, never finished any. This is the first one I've ever seen in black plastic. Good Luck!!

Very interesting! From the level of detail on the outside, I'm guessing these are vacuum formed in concave negative form?
Our makerspace is building a vacuum form tool and this looks like an interesting project to try.
I'm hoping to use it to vacuum form C3PO heads from a Pepakura model I've got.

Filled the bow area with lead shot to prevent tail sitting.

Mounted up the tail.Any misalignments or gaps will be dealt with after the glue sets.
