Got a new toy today, and its gonna need some 3d modeling support.

So I treated myself to a new toy today and it works great. the only problem, is its discontinued so I have to make up my own spare parts. Here's a picture of the 3D printed parts I'll need to make in plastic to support my new toy. Any guesses?

I've been playing with a 3D printer for a while now, but I don't call that a toy. this is a real toy, a really cool toy, but its been discontinued by the manufacturer.

So as a hint, it is a crafting toy, and as such uses crafting stuff, alas not paper.
The crafting stuff it uses is wicked expensive in the new old stock venues.
So I am using my 3D printer to print new new stock for the toy.

NO!!! its the Hot wheels car maker kit!!! It heats up plastic wax, injects it into a mold, and then you can mount them onto chassis. Its the greatest ever!!!! The catch is it only comes with 2 or 3 chassis' and I can't find more at less than ridiculous prices. So I'm gonna try and print the chassis on my 3D printer.

"creepy crawlers" have always been a staple in this house. The holy grail of them being the "mini-dragons thing maker" we have them all.

Kids today don't know what they are missing. I got so many burns and blisters growing up with the thing maker, etc.

my kids did this stuff every weekend. We even had a creepy crawler birthday party. set up the molds, put them on cookie trays, the kids filled the molds, baked the trays in the oven, and the creepy crawlers were the take-away.

well, the first set of 3d printed parts look pretty good, I got the exhaust pipes backwards (I had to cut them off and turn them around,) and I've got a couple of more tweaks to go, but all in all, pretty good results:
