Belated St. Patrick's Day , "The Scholar and his cat"

I found several versions of this very old poem from old Irish, c 900 AD ,one paraphrase: (for the pet lovers out there) said written by an Irish monk,

I and Pangur Ban, each with his unique skills, his mind is set to seek his prey
Mine to decipher thoughts and words.
I love to contemplate upon my books, but Pangur would prefer his instinctual
pursuit.
When we are in our house together we tirelessly enjoy our chosen tasks.
Oh joy when a mouse enters his waiting trap, as I love a clarified mystery.
He stares bravely with perfect attention. I focus my mind when chasing new understanding.
How happy he is to hold his favorite catch in his sharp claws, as I am happy to
unravel a challenging idea.
Although we may indeed spend hours this way, we don't disturb each other;
Pangur Ban my cat and I, each has his reward.
