WWII Medic supplies

I needed some medical supplies for a WWII combat medic display I am working on but the originals are too pricey and they look about 75 years old so I decided to try my hand at making them. I wanted some that folks could pick up and look at without causing me to go into panic mode so here is how I am doing it, I'm sure there are better ways. First I find a photograph of the boxes I need and the dimensions, not an easy task, then using a CAD program I draw a template. The template is then made transparent, copied, and pasted over a photo of brown chipboard. Next I crop out the front, back, top, and end of the box, make corrections as needed and one at a time I erase the background.

More about WWII Medic supplies

I then copy the various parts of the box and paste them onto the template where they belong. This involves a good deal of time, mostly due to completely removing the background. When this is done I then get rid of the construction lines and print the thing on heavy card stock. All that is left is to score, cut and fold the box. I plan to fill them with Styrofoam blocks to prevent crushing. This may be kind of a round about way of doing this but it worked for me.

Sounds like an excellent solution.
