Amazing that he didn't go blind building at such a small scale! But I guess when you have very little space to display or store these, this is the optimal scenario. It's too bad really because the small scale really strips away any potential finer details that could really set this model apart...

Bruno's DC-3, 1/144, Beer Can Plane
Further to my post #92, I have just finished the DC-3, at 1/144, Bruno's design. It's the first, and hopefully not the last, soda can plane at this scale of 1/144. The undercarriage are scratch built after googling for images.
Hope you'll enjoy the views. Papermate |

Looks like this one was a challenging build. The seams where the wings meet the fuselage look like they were trouble some to say the least. The small scale doesn't lend much detail to the cockpit area and I was wondering if that is strips of blue can for the windows or what material did you use? Nice build though, but I would go blind based on the dimensions shown in the first photo! The last airliner that I built was an MD-80 and it was 8 foot long with a 6 foot wing span!

Gawd only knows how many stitches it would take to put me back together after doing one of those!

Thanks, Gman. Without wing fairings, it is very hard to hide the seams of the wing when gluing them to the fuselage. After all, Bruno didn't design it for anything other than paper and it's clear he doesn't have this in mind. The blue colour is actually a paint-over using a blue marker. I have been using magnifying glasses, the Optivisor, for all paper models, large and small. So my eye sight is still okay.
Thanks, Michael, for stopping by. I would have thought the same before trying but not quite so after working on it for a few times. Just a couple of jabs on the fingers so far and I have become wiser. No big deal and no ER necessary. You can do it as long as you are careful and patient. Papermate |

DHC-8 Ribean colour
Well, I haven't called it quits yet. And here's the DHC-8 in Ribena colour.
Just up to the fuselage, holiday break coming up, and let's take a loooong break. Papermate |

Looks to be a slightly larger scale than some of the previous projects, enabling the use of added details. Looks slightly longer than 12 inches unless my eyes are deceiving me.
Question: You seem to limit your projects to a few choice paper model designers. Is there some unique methodology at play with regards to this selection? |
