Wow, just... wow.
LOVE that Pepsi P-51. Immaculate job and pattern matching. Man, I've worked with aluminium before and know the sharp edges involved. I bet you have a fair amount of scars on the old fingers!~

The P-51 has always been one of my favorite can subjects to model and experimentation over my 20+ years in the craft has taught me that you can also build these beauties in its more natural aluminum appearance as seen here:
The details such as the insignia and wheel, nose and tail accents can then be added with the use of solid colored can from various liveries... |

In a nutshell, I made them myself. Experimentation with the process of building these unique works of art is a must in order to keep it fresh and exciting. After 20+ years, I took it upon myself to experiment with an established process I saw in a tutorial and modified it for the expressed purpose of specifically building with cans. I wanted to see if the process was feasible and how it would make those certain subjects like the P-51 or even the F-86 Sabre look more realistic built of a bare aluminum:
Even the F-86 looks good made from them, right??? So the moral of the story is even an old dog can learn new tricks! |

No.12 Diamon D-40 Diamond Star, orginally 1/25 reduced to 1/100
No.12 Diamond D-40 Diamond Star, a commission project for a girl who, originally wanted a D-20 Katana, now settles for the D-40 at the scale of 1/100. She likes a Fanta orange skin so here it is with a Fanta stand. The props spin as you blow them. It makes a good display on her workdesk and whenever she feels bored with work, she can play with it as a refresher.
I think I'll keep to aluminium cans with markings for the time being as they look fascinating and the idea to use soda or beer cans are the markings/graphics on them. |

Oh I hear you papermate. I don't do the bare aluminum thing very often-only for select projects that simply need that bare aluminum look. The rest of the time, I'm with you and I prefer the markings...
