I am always happy to see that this lost art is still alive and being pushed to its potential. When done with due diligence and attention to detail, these models can rival both paper and plastic contemporaries and even compete with them in IPMS competitions. I had the honor of taking home a Best of Show at an IPMS competition a few years ago, beating out some very stiff paper, resin, and plastic competition.

The winning entry? Life Sized SCM R2D2:

The potential for this craft is unlimited, if we continue to strive to push it to its very limits...

Thanks whulsey! It was a fun build. I admire the skill of the OP for building at the smaller scale. As for me, I prefer the larger scales to see how far I can push the art to the extreme.

R2 is cool, except when he camps out in the living room and binge watches The Voice until the wee hours of the morning:

Beer Can B737-200, 1/144, based on Murph's model

B737, in the media of beer can, is now finished. The look is impressive because of its shiny armour.
All landing gears are made of aluminium tin foil and wire inside. Small parts gave me challenge
but any way it's all over now. Glad to have done this before Xmas so that it will clear the
way for the next can plane. Maybe I don't do paper anymore.

And a glimpse of the next one to come.
Been doing this for a while but stopped when other pressing projects came in.
Will work on it soon.
