That brings to mind a little Nieuport 11 kit by Comet which I "spiffed up" in Macon, Georgia, in the 1970s by among other things using thread for the structural rigging inside the fuselage; even in that little thing the humidity changes between summer and the winter furnace caused what I'll call "tissue issues".

(it ended up too heavy to fly right but I was experimenting with detailing, those kits were so economical in those days that one could afford to sacrifice a couple to experiments)

Here I am adding the sewing thread for the frame support wires.

I don't know if it'll actually add anything for the strength. Right now it's all just stuck down with drops of glue. But I think the ring might be strong enough by itself. Especially after I attach them together with the 32 stringers.

I also bought another 9 sticks, all the ones my local hobby shop owns, but I gave him a heads-up that I'm gonna be looking for upto 90 more sticks in a few months.

But he did say he didn't carry silver tissue. I'm really hoping to just use silver tissue and a very light doping rather than having to paint this model.

Maybe I'll check on-line for silver tissue?

I should be ready to start the next ring tonight.

Cheers,

John Gay

Found two shades of grey tissue at https://easybuiltmodels.com

And at only 96 cents a sheet, I can get one of each to see which one I want to buy 4-5 more sheets of.
(And I know. A preposition is a word you are not supposed to end a sentence with.)

Well, actually,

I know many of you were taught that you shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition, but it’s a myth.

In fact, I consider it one of the top ten grammar myths because many people believe it’s true, but nearly all grammarians disagree, at least in some cases (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). So before I lose you, let's back up. What is a preposition?

This is getting more and more interesting. Is Mylar a common material for cell lining?

I've made a little progress on the next frame forward, frame 140.

This frame is actually identical to from 156.5, except two of the engine cars hang off this frame. I don't know if I'm going to include the support struts now, or wait until I'm attaching the engine cars.

Either way, I think I'll leave all the frames on the wax paper until I'm ready to put it all together.

Cheers,

John Gay

I also recently picked up an Incredi-Builds 3D Wood Model of the Millennium Falcon at Galaxy's Edge.
I'd really like to get a high-detail scan of this small model so I can scale it up to laser-cut at my local Makerspace. It can handle 500mm X 700mm or 27.6" X 19.7" whereas this model is 7" X 8.75" which gives me a max of 280% scale.
Of course I'd need to adjust the holes for the thickness of the wood I'm cutting, but that should give me a nearly 15" X 11" Millennium Falcon.

Here is Frame 140 finished.

I decided not to bother with the tension threads. The ones on Frame 156 are exactly tight. I think the stringers along the outside will do a much better job of holding this all together anyway.

Just started on the next frame. Once I can get a few quiet evenings, I should be able to get moving through these now that I've got a rhythm going.

Cheers,

John Gay

And now I've finished Frame 123.5.

These are the 3 frames I have done so far.

Frames 140 & 156.5 are the same size. The rest of the frames are smaller.
I'm close to finishing frame 107 now. There are 17 main rings. I'm not going to bother with the intermediate rings at this scale.

The tail rings will be interesting, though. and the nose ring is attached to the intermediate ring behind it.

Cheers,
