"Astroparc" in 1/220 scale.

The 1/220 scale rocket models, assembled and presented in the "spacecraft of the day" section;
The spacecraft of the day at 1/220!

were to provide the material in exhibition of my future miniature Z scale train network with its museum of Space: Astroparc.
On the rockets side, it will be necessary to European, Japanese, Space X rockets, space stations, etc. ...
I needed for Astroparc a main building in model which will be used as a center for the museum, of modern architecture, having relationship with Space, at 1/220 or close.
Here is the rare beast; the 1/250 scale plastic model of the Japanese pavilion of the NEC company at the Tsukuda exhibition in 1985.
It featured a 32-meter diameter radio telescope.

Time to build it!

I am now going to start developing Astroparc, a museum park which will house some of my rockets. First of all, here is the miniature layout (in Z, 1/220) which will serve as a support.

It is a very light layout in 2 main parts, entirely in extruded polystyrene designed to be easy to transport (the 2 modules are stored head to tail) and to be used on display. It existed previously in another form but underwent several modifications.

A tourist track in 8 crisscrosses the park for its visit. An electrified double track passes at the bottom of the park. For the moment, only "space" signs have been put up.

The hidden part, convenient to install the trains:

A removable cover hides a secret hangar and allows access to the tracks under the tunnel:

The control panel, easy to transport with its 2 handles.

Brilliant, Jan!

(Though I doubt that THE train may actually negotiate the curves and underpasses!

Thank you for your comments!

The "return of the tracks" part will receive a cache which will enlarge the exhibition area of the park.

The park has a small steam depot for the implementation of the tourist locomotive that runs through it. The maintenance and loan of this locomotive are provided by "Locoparc", the train museum, a few kilometers away. The railway linking the two parks makes it possible to run different models of historic locos in the middle of the rockets. Here are the constructions that will be added for this service.

And the boarding platform for the tour of the park by train:

This is so brilliant Jan! I just don't know what more to say. Remembering all the individual builds and your backround stories about them and now see them rounded together in this absolutely stunning theme park, just WOW!

Thank you for welcoming us to “AstroParc”.
There are many great things to see here.
Looking forward to watching you work with this marvelous layout.
