Performance Art? Art In Motion? IDK...
Title: "Grande Delusion", 2020 (in progress)
Artist: Leasure Medium: Rust-Oleum on Outback Some who lived in Denver during the 1980's may recall Dave Schumacher's custom painted Toyota Land Cruiser. Painted in the style of the Rio Grande's "Prospector" scheme, it was a classy nod by a local rail fan to one of our "home team" railroads, the Denver and Rio Grande Western. (Dave passed away in 2007 at the age of 60) Fast-forward nearly 40 years, and I present to you my homage to both the Rio Grande and Dave's Land Cruiser. Lacking the funds for a professional repaint, and not having the space or equipment to spray my own paint, I also present my attempt at a rolled-on Rust-Oleum paint job. Close inspection will reveal the A pillars and roof have yet to be done. As removing the roof rack will be necessary to simplify masking and painting (and THAT will necessitate dropping the headliner), that will have to wait until next summer. Also, the black piece housing the back up lights is temporary. Another piece painted to match the rest of the car is in-progress as well, but I needed to do something to get the car roadworthy for this winter. Color is a mix of Safety Yellow and Safety Red, mixed in a 24:1 ratio.
