Thanks to all for your well wishes. I had a great day, got a new set of 36 Prismacolor watercolor pencils from my lovely wife Essie, and went to see "Murder on the Orient Express". The ticket seller gave us the senior discount without us asking for it. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, but at least the movie was good. I'd love to see a paper model of the train from this movie. It was almost as big a star as K.B.'s mustache.

As for this last year, I have to say that I'm just happy to still be here. In January, I had an LAD heart attack. Without a quick trip to the hospital and expert surgical care I would not have survived. I left the hospital with a diagnosis of heart failure and had to wear a "life vest" (a combo heart monitor and defibrillator) 24/7 for two months.

Shortly after leaving the hospital, I started an intensive cardiac-rehabilitation program at the hospital affiliated cardiac center. That program, along with amazing support from my wife allowed me to make a complete recovery in three short months. I now have a normal healthy heart. I plan to keep it that way with proper diet, exercise, a meditative relaxation practice and the loving support of my wife.

Then in June the cardiac-rehab program had a reunion celebration. That very night I started to feel ill with hot flashes followed by chills and uncontrolled shaking. So I was right back in the hospital where I got both good and bad news. My heart was fine, but a scan showed that the N.H. Lymphoma that I had been diagnosed with four years ago had now progressed and needed treatment. So starting in July, I began chemo treatments to shrink and get rid of the lymphoma tumors. I completed that course of treatment with just one more trip to the hospital for a very low neutrophil count, and a couple of weeks ago, a CAT scan showed that the tumors are at least greatly reduced and possibly completely gone. I have a PET scan scheduled for the last week of December to confirm that the tumors are gone.

So all in all, it's been a pretty interesting year, may I never have another one like it.

Curt

Wow Curt, I had no idea. Did I miss posts about your health? If so, I'm sorry. I know exactly what you mean about getting the senior discount with out being asked. A bald head with a fringe of white hair does tend to give that impression. Can't blame the cashiers for thinking I'm ancient. Anyway, here's to a healthy new year for you and then a bunch more after that!

Thanks Elliot. You did not miss any posts about my health. I wanted to wait until I had good news to report before saying anything. In any case my lovely wife said it all much better than I ever could in her facebook post.
