Wayne, Bob, Vinalssergio, Herky, Doug, Don, Richindler, Elliot, Rickstef and Seacape.

Guys - thanks for good wishes.

Its a pity I'm not in the States - I would always have had a holiday on my Birthday. As it was I thought I had one, but I had to work.

Sigh!

P.S. Don - I still owe you photos!

Thank VK. I have taken tomorrow off as I worked on my birthday - so that will be my own delayed birthday present!

I intend to lie in bed late (as its winter here and freezing) and then do some modelling.

My wife incidentally gave me a nice birthday present - a colour laser printer for the models. She works in the industry, so this is a refurbished one from her work and a fairly large one at that, but that means it has the features. It is wifi capable so I can stick it away somewhere out of the way, but still use it.....

Ah, so you like big models Doug! No A3, but I don't make that many big models. The A3 version is not imported in colour here, only B and W.

Specs - A4 Colour. Print, copy, scan, fax. Duplex. ARDF. 30 ppm when printing colour. Paper thickness 60-220 grm. 300, 600 or 1200 dpi. Laser. WiFi.

I am always generally modeling (or trying to) to 1/160 or 1/300, apart from birds and some other models that are all also A4, so I'm happy!

I haven't had a printer for years at home, but as I am now also working mostly from home now as well it will be useful, though I rarely print work stuff nowadays except sometimes to proof the odd document.

I have a wide format printer at home that allows printing up to 329 mm wide and according to the printer properties up to 1200 mm long (that is around 13 inches by 47 inches in the local lingo, give or take a few smidgens) and has a scanner bed that will handle up to A3 size pages. It comes in handy when archiving some of those larger size pages.
I played around once and increased a A4 size model page up to A3 size just to see what the results would be. Not bad.

That's decent! A plan printer.

One thing I do remember I print in A3 are bases sometimes. Or rather my other half does - she has access up to A0 sizes plus industrial wide format. The machines that do the latter use the big sizes for screens, vinyls and decals mainly - in case you where wondering why on earth someone would print to that size! For shop windows, glass frosting, banners etc.

I saw a TV show about NASCAR that showed them printing and applying the very large vinyl wraps for the bodies of the race cars. That takes a very large printer.
