Excellent recipe Don!
I made it for dinner Saturday evening. It has a warm and satisfying character with plenty of flavor. And it is simple to put together. You granted much leeway in your instructions, so I added some onion and a bit of bell pepper I had on hand. I used Red, Navy and Pinto beans. The recipe is a “keeper”, so unless you have already given it a formal name, shall we call it “Cumberland Valley Beans”? Mike |

Thanks to Alan, Bart, Owen, Curt, Rob, Dan, David, Michael, and Don for the good wishes.
Great to hear from you, Doug (once upon a time, Doug and I were colleagues studying the history and strategy of the Pacific War together - if you have the chance, ask him about Operation RECKLESS [Hollandia-Aitape in April 1944]). Mike - That recipe is very flexible. I kept it simple because I wanted to be able to appreciate the taste of the beans from Don3's garden. Onion and green pepper are always good additions. I also often add diced Italian-style tomatoes once the beans start to soften. Red, Navy, and Pinto beans sounds like a good combination! Best wishes to all. Don |
