Take a look at the Iron browser which uses Chrome source code but is supposed to have better privacy than the G**gl- version because it does not have the tracking features.

BLOOMOHIO,

If you really think that your computer is locked, take it to the GEEK Squad at your nearest Best Buy store. They are very good at getting rid of malware and other beasties. Just tell them what you think happened and they will give you an estimate of the cost to fix. I have a yearly contract with them through my small business and have had great service over the years.

Dunno what more to advise. P'raps my Malware protection is better than yours?
I use Win10 pro Fully updated, Chrome Browser, Adblock Plus and Avast Free Antivirus, with Advanced System Care 9 (v10 from today), Malwarebytes and 10bit Malware Fighter all ticking over in the background. CCleaner, Spybot S&D, Adwcleaner 6 and Smart Defrag 5 are used around once a week to clean up and catch any stragglers.

All I can say is it works for me, and I surf dangerous waters daily.

Yep, I use a bunch of the same protective programs that John listed and have had no problems with any nefarious addercops at websites.

A malware and adware and virus scan is done at least three times a week. If a visited website or downloaded file that seems even the least bit suspicious is encountered then a scan is done right away.

Squirrels are running mad. Taking more seed than they need. Red Ryder is near.

Nah, bloomohio was having troubles with a website. The malware stuff was to advise him.
