Wow, its been a long time since I visited a Staples, I didn't know that they are now stocking high tech composite building materials. I'll have to look into this, maybe get some of these graphite staves and see if I can put them to use.
I did find pulverized gum arabic at a gourmet cooking store, I guess they are trying to break out of the cooking niche market and into the broader market of paper modeling.

Should be able to find it at a good art supply store also. Its the binder for traditional water colors.

Back when I was doing calligraphy as a regular thing we would add gum arabic to ink or gouache to keep it from spreading on slick papers. Can't imagine it would be that effective as a glue, but here's a link to the liquid version, if that helps. Winsor & Newton Gum Arabic Solution - BLICK art materials
