Graveyard project for halloween

Now that the dark half of the year is approaching (on the northern hemisphere) I have decided to take a break from my regular projects and work on a graveyard!

I have create a couple of bleached, toned down, desaturated, yet cover in autumn leaves ground tiles ...

... and combined them into a map layout.

So this will be my stage for this project. Next I need to make some gravestones indicating the graves, a masoleum in the center and a fence around. Maybe a dead tree. And of course lots of ghosts, vampires and zombies!

And lots of crypts. And yes - a stand of dead trees.

Crypts ... that's what I meant with mausoleum. A graveyard building in the center. Not sure what the official difference is between crypt and mausoleum.

A crypt is underground always. I was thinking of the above-ground crypt entrances. As opposed to mausoleums, where the casket is above ground in the building.

Pics1 and 2 - Crypt entrances (#1 from Diablo!).

Pics 3 to 5 - Mausoleums.

Not too much external differences. Except the crypt entrances can have a very small foot print.

Gotcha! For now I will focus on the above ground part. But an underground crypt terrain sounds interesting too.

Make some crypt entrances to go with this set.

Then make the crypts as an add-on set of tiles?

The layout reminds me of the cemeteries in and around New Orleans

Oh yeah. A nice foreboding black wrought iron fence surrounding the graveyard.

Maybe you could hide some evil faces in the fence design like the face on the wall in the 1963 movie The Haunting.

That movie always creeps me out.

Iron wrought fence sounds great. I can imagine an easy build version and maybe a nice advanced one too.

A later set with some "downstairs" action is put on the to-do list :-)

I will have to see if I can find some New Orleans references for that. I am always on the search for good references.

Here is the search result from Google, when I used New Orleans Cemetary https://bit.ly/31Zyvvv
